What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags, and scripts.
Essential site functionality
Daily Paws uses browser local storage to remember your game state, preferences, streaks, and player name across sessions. This includes things like your current puzzle progress, theme choice, whether you've acknowledged this notice, and the town used for the local weather line. This data stays in your browser and is not sent to us or used for advertising purposes. If you use optional features such as leaderboards or a signed-in account, your player name and scores are also saved to our database (Supabase) - see our Privacy Policy for details.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how the site is used. It's a privacy-friendly analytics service - it does not use cookies, does not store personal data, and does not track individuals across sites or devices. No consent is required under UK GDPR or PECR.
Other third-party services
Daily Paws uses a small number of third-party services. None of these set advertising cookies:
- Supabase - stores leaderboard scores and account data if you use those features. See their Privacy Policy.
- Formspree - handles anonymous feedback submitted via the site footer. See their Privacy Policy.
- Google Fonts - loads typefaces from Google's servers. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Open-Meteo - provides the local weather line's forecast and, when you search for a town, its place lookup. No API key or account is involved. See their Terms & Privacy.
- ipwho.is - used once, the first time you visit, to guess your town from your IP address at city level, so the weather line can show something without asking for your precise location. This never uses your browser's location permission - you can change or clear the town it guesses at any time by clicking the weather line.
Managing cookies and local storage
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers also allow you to block third-party cookies specifically. To clear local storage data for Daily Paws, go to your browser's developer tools or site settings and clear site data for dailypaws.co.uk. Note that this will reset your saved game progress and preferences.
