What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags, and scripts.
Essential site functionality
Daily Paws uses browser local storage to remember your game state, preferences, streaks, and display name across sessions. This includes things like your current puzzle progress, theme choice, and whether you've acknowledged this notice. This data stays in your browser and is not sent to us or used for advertising purposes. If you use optional features such as leaderboards or a signed-in account, your chosen display name and scores are also saved to our database (Supabase) - see our Privacy Policy for details.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how the site is used. It's a privacy-friendly analytics service - it does not use cookies, does not store personal data, and does not track individuals across sites or devices. No consent is required under UK GDPR or PECR.
Other third-party services
Daily Paws uses a small number of third-party services. None of these set advertising cookies:
- Supabase - stores leaderboard scores and account profiles if you use those features. See their Privacy Policy.
- Mailchimp - processes your email address if you subscribe to our newsletter. See their Privacy Policy.
- Formspree - handles anonymous feedback submitted via the site footer. See their Privacy Policy.
- Free Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev) - used by Paw Words to validate guessed words. The word you guess is sent to this API; no personal data is included. See their project page.
- Google Fonts - loads typefaces from Google's servers. See Google's Privacy Policy.
When you click through to external services such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or Ko-fi, those services may use their own cookies or tracking technologies under their own policies.
Managing cookies and local storage
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers also allow you to block third-party cookies specifically. To clear local storage data for Daily Paws, go to your browser's developer tools or site settings and clear site data for dailypaws.co.uk. Note that this will reset your saved game progress and preferences.
